SPRINTS AND LATE MODELS MARCH 26 AT WILLIAMS GROVE
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The powerful late
model stock cars will join the sprint cars at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday
night, March 26.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 7:30.
Three late model features were completed last year and were won by Steve
Francis, Jamie Lathroum and Jason Covert. Covert’s victory was a thriller over
NASCAR star Kyle Busch.
Late model competitors have shown tremendous support for the races at
Williams Grove - last year’s car count averaged 38 per meet - so four dates have
been scheduled for this division in 2010.
In addition to March 26, the late models have been slated for April 9,
which is also a Friday night in which sprint cars will be the featured
attraction.
Williams Grove Speedway will be a part of Late Model Speedweek again this
year and will host a race on Tuesday evening, June 8. The 358 c.i. .sprints
will also be on the June 8 card.
The final sprint/late model double header is set for October 8.
Gary Stuhler is the leading active late model feature winner at Williams
Grove with 20 career victories.
In the Grove’s sprint car division, drivers will be competing once again
this week for points toward the Lawrence Chevrolet track championship, which
will be worth $20,000 to the winning team at season’s end,
Qualifying heats will be lined up according to the luck of the draw in both
the sprint car and late model divisions this week.
