ESHENAUR’S BONUS REWARDS LAST LAP PASS
FOR GROVE SPRINTS
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- There’s nothing like a last lap pass for the win in a
sprint car race. If it happens at Williams Grove Speedway this year the winning
driver will pick up an extra $100 courtesy of Eshenaur’s Fuels.
It nearly happened at this year’s season opener when Fred Rahmer took the
lead heading for the white flag and Greg Hodnett’s last lap charge fell a car
length short.
The Eshenaur’s bonus has added even more incentive for the races lined up
according to the speedway’s handicapping system. The handicapped races offer a
base purse of $3600 to win plus $10 for every lap led. If the winning driver
starts from positions seven through twelve he receives a $500 bonus. If the
winner comes from beyond the sixth row, he receives a $1000 bonus. Throw in the
Eshenaur’s $100 bonus for a last lap pass and the winner’s share for a standard
25-lap feature could top $4700.
In addition to the purse, drivers are racing for points toward the
Lawrence Chevrolet championship, which will pay the winning team $20,000 at
season’s end.
Rahmer stamped himself as an early favorite for the Lawrence championship
after winning the season opener. It was the fifth time the 52-year old
Salfordville superstar has won a Grove opener and after each of the previous
four victories he went on to win the championship.
Rahmer left no doubt about his intentions when he boldly proclaimed in
victory lane that the championship would be his again this year.
Rahmer and the rest of the East’s finest sprint car drivers will go at it
again this Friday evening, April 2.
The 358 c.i. sprints will also be on the card and the first heat is
scheduled to start at 7:30.
