WILLIAMS GROVE
KEYSTONE CUP RACE CANCELLED
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- With showers and thunderstorms forecast throughout the
area, the Keystone Cup sprint car event scheduled for Williams Grove Speedway on
Friday evening, May 28, was cancelled.
Friday night action at Williams Grove will return on June 4 with the
URC-sanctioned Rislone 360 Nationals along with a complete program of sprint car
racing for the Grove regulars.
URC qualifying is set for 7:30.
The May 28 cancellation was just the second Friday night race date lost to
the elements this season.
Ten sprint car races have been completed thus far in 2010 and seven
different drivers have been victorious.
Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease and Chad Layton have two victories apiece with
singles going to Lucas Wolfe, Stevie Smith, Greg Hodnett and Mark Smith.
The winner’s average starting position is sixth.
Hodnett leads the Lawrence Chevrolet point standings by a mere ten points
over Rahmer.
S. Smith holds a 60-point lead over Brian Montieth in the
Goodyear-sponsored Diamond Series point standings.
The next Diamond Series race will be on June 11 when the All Stars return.
The Williams Grove sprint car division has averaged 35 cars per night with
ten races completed this season. The high car count has been 46 on two
occasions and the low car count has been 28 also on two occasions.
