WILLIAMS GROVE SPRINT CARS AND 360
NATIONALS JUNE 4
MECHANCSBURG, PA -- A rich sprint car double header is set for Williams
Grove Speedway on Friday evening, June 4, when the Rislone 360 Nationals will be
presented along with a complete program of racing for the Pennsylvania Posse.
The URC portion of the card will begin with time trials at 7:30 followed by
qualifying heats, a C-main, a B-main and a feature event which will pay $4000 to
win.
In addition to the URC regulars the Williams Grove 358s are eligible to
compete and current Tool Shed of America point leader Pat Cannon will be one of
the favorites.
Cannon won the inaugural 360 Nationals in 2006 and is off to a great
start at Williams Grove this season with two wins in four starts in the 358
division.
His first victory back on April 2 was the 15th of his career which made him
the division’s all-time leading winner. His most recent win on May 21 was
especially impressive since he started twelfth and had to take the lead from an
experienced sprint car driver in Kevin Nouse.
Cannon, 31, of Etters, is no stranger to the Grove’s victory lane. He owns
one full sprint car victory, one URC win, six super sportsman triumphs and
sixteen 358 wins. With more than $20,000 in the Rislone Nationals purse, there
is sure to be plenty of competition for Cannon in the pit area.
Other former Nationals winners include Ed Aiken - 2007, Kenny Adams - 2008
and Aaron Ott in 2009.
The Grove’s sprint car drivers led by the likes of Fred Rahmer, Greg
Hodnett, Chad Layton and Brian Montieth will compete in a separate program of
heats, a consolation race and a 25-lap feature. Depending on his starting
position a driver could earn more than $4700
Points for the Lawrence Chevrolet championship will also be at stake.
