A $5.00 EVENT JUNE 5 -- EICHELBERGER
CAN BREAK JACKSON’S RECORD
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Racing fans got their money’s worth last Saturday
night at Williams Grove Speedway and on Saturday evening, June 5, they will have
an opportunity to do it again.
Last week for just a $5.00 admission ticket fans got to watch 103 race cars
in competition with the highlight of the night coming in the sportsman feature
when the winner advanced twelve places and in the process tied a long standing
speedway record for career victories.
Just about the time some pundits were beginning to wonder if a sportsman
feature at Williams Grove would ever see a lead change, last Saturday night’s
race dispelled all doubt.
After the first three sportsman features had been won by drivers with front
row starting spots, who each led every lap for their respective victories,
things were different on May 29.
Rich Eichelberger, the veteran from Dillsburg, charged from the 13th
starting position to take the lead from Duaine Smith and went on to score the
twelfth sportsman victory of his career at Williams Grove
Eichelberger’s triumph tied Larry Jackson’s career victory total which has
been at the top of the sportsman winner’s list for thirteen years.
Will Rich Eichelberger make history this week? It will cost just $5.00 to
find out in person as that same low admission price will be in effect again on
Saturday night.
The 358 c.i. late models , street stock and 4-cylinder stock cars will
again be a part of the June 5 event.
Following a bye week on June 12, the Saturday Night Series will return on
June 19 and June 26.
