LATE MODEL SPEED WEEK SERIES AT THE GROVE ON TUESDAY JUNE 8

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The richest late model race at Williams Grove speedway for the 2010 season is set for Tuesday evening, June 8.
The Grove, nationally known for its weekly sprint car racing, will be the fourth stop on this year’s seven race Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speed Week Series.
The second annual week-long speed fest for late models is sponsored by Century LINK and is expected to bring a large and talented field of late model competitors to this historic Mechanicsburg half-mile just as it did in 2009.
The Kentucky Colonel, Steve Francis, won the 40-lap feature over Rick Eckert and World of Outlaws late model champion Josh Richards a year ago.
An outstanding field of 49 late models filled the pit area on that night.
The late models have made two appearances at Williams Grove this season and both races attracted some of the top teams in the Tri-State area.
Jason Covert was the late model winner on March 26 and Jamie Lathroum won the Three State Flyers event on April 9.
Both Covert and Lathroum will be hard pressed to repeat against the competition Speed Week will provide, but both drivers are certainly capable.
In addition to a minimum of $5000 to win at every stop, The Speed Week champion will receive an additional $4000 if all races are completed.
Additional sponsorship from Hoosier, American Racer, Keizer Aluminum Racing Wheels and Sunoco Racing Fuels will add to the total prize money for the series.
Speed Week begins on June 5 in Hagerstown (Md.), then moves to Selinsgrove and Winchester (Va.), before stopping at Williams Grove.  The final three events will be at Lincoln Speedway, Port Royal and Bedford, all in Pennsylvania.
Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 7:00 at Williams Grove.
The Grove’s 358 c.i. sprint cars will also be on the June 8 card.
