HANDICAPPING, BONUSES, NO INCREASE IN ADMISSION JUNE 18

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Williams Grove Speedway will host a sprint car double header on Friday evening, June 18, featuring sprint cars powered by 410 cubic inch engines and sprint cars powered by 358 cubic inch engines.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 8:00.
There will be no time trials.  No sanctioning bodies.  No extra distance races.  And no increase in admission.
Races in both divisions will be lined up according to the drivers’ earnings averages at Williams Grove.
The main event will be 25 laps in distance with lap money and bonuses offered in the premier division.
The 358 feature will be 20 laps in distance.
The 410 winner will earn more than $3600 and could earn more than $4800 depending on his starting position and when he takes the lead.
All of that may not sound like a special attraction, but in 2010 it has become a special attraction.
Only three of the eleven sprint car races run to date have been lined up according to the speedway’s handicapping system, which forces drivers who  have won the most money to start toward the rear of their heats and mid-pack in the feature.  This system has continued to provide plenty of passing and exciting racing for the fans.
In the most recent handicapped race on May 21, Mark Smith won the feature after starting eleventh.  On April 30 Lance Dewease won from the ninth starting spot.
Each driver earned a $500 bonus for his performance.
In the 358 division Scott Geesey used a last corner pass to score the victory after starting tenth on June 8 and Pat Cannon won from the twelfth starting spot on May 21.
A similar program of  sprint cars and 358s is planned for June 25 before the Mitch Smith Memorial ,worth $10,000 to win, will highlight Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week on July 2.
