SATURDAY NIGHT SERIES RETURNS WITH TWO
305 FEATURES
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The Saturday Night Series returns to Williams Grove
Speedway on June 19 and if recent history can be used as an indication, the
weather shouldn’t be a factor.
Over the past two seasons rain has plagued the Saturday Night Series at
Williams Grove. This year three of seven scheduled events have been lost to the
elements, but if the recent pattern continues this should be the week for fair
weather.
Since the season’s first rainout on April 24, SNS dates have alternated
between fair weather and foul. A rainout on April 24, a race on May 8. Rain on
May 22, a race on May 29. It rained on June 5, the last scheduled SNS date, so
the racers are due for some fair weather on June 19.
The sportsman division continues to produce solid fields of cars and
competitive racing, weather permitting.
There have been four different sportsman winners in as many races. Paul
Miller, Russ Mitten, Scott Dellinger and Rich Eichelberger have all been to
victory lane this year.
Eichelberger came from the 13th starting position to score a record-tying
12th career victory on May 29.
The sportsman division is averaging 32 cars per meet with four races
complete.
In addition to the sportsman cars, 358 c.i. late models and 305-sprints
will also be on the June 19 card, which lists a 6:30 start.
The 305-sprints will be making their third appearance of the season, and
twin features will be run.
Mike Wagner II won the 305 race on April 17, but the feature was rained out
when the entry level sprint class returned on May 8. That feature will be made
up prior to the scheduled 305 racing on June 19.
