TRI-TRACK SHOOTOUT ON JUNE 26 -- JULY
17 ADDED TO SCHEDULE
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The Saturday Night Series returns to Williams Grove
Speedway on June 26 and while super sportsman cars will be on the card along
with the street stocks and 4-cylinder stock cars, the 358 c.i. late models will
take center stage this week.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 6:30.
The late model teams will be competing in the Tri-Track Shootout, a
mini-series involving Trail-Way and Lincoln Speedways in addition to Williams
Grove.
Late model car count has been averaging 29 per race after four races this
season and that number could increase since some invaders are expected for this
week’s special event.
Regardless of who is in the field, the man to beat may well be Gene Knaub.
On June 19 the defending division champion became the first driver to
repeat in late model competition at the Grove this year.
Since the 2007 season this former 358-sprint driver has scored 14 victories
in 358-late model competition at Williams Grove. No other driver can approach
that figure.
The sportsman division has produced five different winners in as many races
this year.
Last Saturday night Bobby Hockenberry scored his fourth career victory at
the Grove and joined Paul Miller, Russ Mitten, Scott Dellinger and Rich
Eichelberger as 2010 sportsman winners.
There will be no Saturday night racing at Williams Grove over the July 4
holiday weekend, but the series will return with Topless Night on July 10.
A Saturday night date has been added to the Grove’s schedule.
Because three early season races were lost to rain, July 17 will be used to
allow the sportsman, late model, street stock and 4-cylinder divisions the
opportunity to make up at least one of those lost dates.
