POSSE WINNING STREAK COULD REACH TEN ON
JUNE 11
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Another challenge to Pennsylvania Posse dominance at
Williams Grove speedway is set for Friday evening, June 11, when the All Star
Circuit of Champions sprint car division makes its second appearance of the
season.
Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 7:45.
The Williams Grove regulars who comprise the Posse will be seeking to run
their winning streak to ten against invading teams who compete with sprint car
racing’s well-known sanctioning bodies.
The last time the Posse lost a race against the outsiders was on July 19,
2008, when Donny Schatz scored a World of Outlaws-sanctioned $25,000 Summer
Nationals victory. Since that time the Posse has shown its speed and its depth.
The streak began when Todd Shaffer beat the All Stars on May 8, 2009. Greg
Hodnett scored a World of Outlaws win two weeks later. Cody Darrah vanquished
the All Stars on June 12 and Hodnett scored another WoO win on July 24. Hodnett
notched a $50,000 victory in the WoO-sanctioned National Open on October 3 and
Darrah won the rain delayed Summer Nationals the same night.
This season found Lance Dewease back in victory lane when the All Stars
were in town on April 20. Chad Layton and Fred Rahmer swept the World of
Outlaws spring swing on May 13-14.
In addition to the previously mentioned drivers, others such as Stevie
Smith, Daryn Pittman, Tyler Walker, Mark Smith and Brian Montieth are all
capable of keeping the Posse’s winning streak intact and could be in the hunt
for an All Star victory on June 11.
The All Stars are overdue for an upset with three former champions - Tim
Shaffer, Dale Blaney and Greg Wilson - most likely to make it happen.
Friday night’s race is also part of the Goodyear Diamond Series, which
carries a separate point fund from the Lawrence Chevrolet $20,000 track
championship.
