OUTLAW TUNEUP AND 358s JULY 16 - WoO SUMMER NATIONALS JULY 23-24
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The season’s second Outlaw Tuneup for sprint cars is
set for Friday evening, July 16, at Williams Grove Speedway.
Qualifying is set to begin at 7:30 and the 358-sprints will also be on the
card.
The July 16 event will give the sprint car teams another opportunity to
perfect their qualifying setups since time trials will be an integral part of
the Summer Nationals, which will be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws on July
23-24.
Williams Grove has run time trials on seven occasions this year and Brian
Leppo has been the fast qualifier twice.
Brian Montieth, Chad Layton, Joey Saldana Daryn Pittman and Alan Krimes
have also earned a Fast Tees Fast Time Award this season.
The Fast Tees Fast Time Award is worth $300 and is presented in memory of
former two-time track champion Jim Nace.
The fastest lap recorded at Williams Grove this season was turned in by
Saldana, the World of Outlaws point leader from Brownsburg, Indiana, with a time
of 16.364.
The July 16 feature distance will be 30 laps, the same as the July 24
Summer Nationals finale.
Williams Grove has presented six features run at the 30-lap distance this
season with victories going to Layton, Lance Dewease, Greg Hodnett, Fred Rahmer,
Stevie Smith and Pittman.
This week’s feature will be worth $4000 to win.
The Outlaw Tuneup will also be part of the Goodyear Diamond Series that
carries a separate point fund from the Lawrence Chevrolet point standings, which
will determine the Grove’s 2010 sprint car champion.
