TOPLESS NIGHT AT WILLIAMS GROVE ON
SATURDAY JULY 10
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The Saturday Night Series will return to Williams
Grove Speedway on July 10 at 6:30 and it will be Topless Night.
The super sportsman cars and 358-late models will be joined by the ARDC
midgets and all three divisions will be racing topless.
The super sportsman teams will remove the wings from their race cars and
the late models will be racing sans roofs.
The ARDC contingent will feel at home on Saturday night since they
abandoned wings several years ago.
This will be a special night for the midgets since they will be making up a
feature event which was rained out on May 8. The make up feature will be
followed by a program of qualifying races and another feature for the midget
cars.
Before the rain came on May 8, ARDC brought a strong contingent of 32 cars
and the top midget racers in the East.
Steve Buckwalter, known to the Grove’s Friday night sprint car fans as the
Royersford Rocket, is a highly regarded midget racer in addition to being a
Grove sprint car regular and could be a favorite to sweep both ends of the
midget program.
On Friday night, April 30, in his only midget feature appearance of the
season at Williams Grove, Buckwalter came from the tenth starting position to
the lead in just four laps and rolled to a convincing victory.
The last time the sportsman cars went topless was October 10, 20009, and
Doug Hendricks led flag-to-flag to score a 4-car length win over Carmen Perigo,
Joey Biasi, Scott Dellinger and Bobby Hockenberry.
The late model competitors are hoping a topless race will slow down Gene
Knaub, who has won three of the five features for this division at Williams
Grove in 2010.
Eshenaur’s Fuels will offer a $100 bonus to any driver who can make a last
lap pass and win a Saturday Night Series feature,
