SPRINT CARS PLUS 358 CHAMPIONSHIP AUGUST 13 -- TWIN 20s AUGUST 20
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Although the Williams Grove sprint cars will once
again be the headline attraction on Friday evening, August 13, it will be
Championship Night for the 358s.
Races in both divisions will be handicapped according to the drivers’
earnings averages at Williams Grove Speedway. The sprint car drivers will
compete in a 25-lap feature, but the drivers in the 358 division will race in an
extra-distance event with an increased purse.
There will also be a display of antique race cars presented by the Eastern
Museum of Motor Racing.
The 358 division has had some excellent racing this season with much of it
provided by Pat Cannon.
The current Tool Shed of America point leader has won four of the nine
358-sprint features run at Williams Grove this year.
Not only has Cannon been winning, but he has been doing it in impression
fashion. Three of his victories have come from the 12th starting position.
In addition to Cannon, other 358-sprint winners this season include Blane
Heimbach, Nicole Bower, Cory Haas, Jason Shultz and Chad Trout.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 8:00.
The last two Friday nights in August are filled with special events at
Williams Grove.\
On August 20 the annual Twin 20s for sprint cars will be presented.
The Twin 20s will have a new format with time trials being used for the
first time. This event will be part of the Goodyear Diamond Series.
A fireworks display will also be on the card.
August 27 will mark the final appearance of the season for the URC sprint
cars, which will share the pit area with the Grove’s premier division. This will
also be Kids Night.
