I like it because its the only show in town on Fridays. The best of the best are there. In the past a few promoters tried to run against the Grove with no success. There is just something about the place that makes it special. It has a kind of mystique. I like the track configuration, "it is very unique!" I remember as a little guy walking across that bridge and through the tunnel with my dad, for the first time, many many years ago. Although the old tower and covered grandstand are long gone they are forever etched in my mind. The Reading Fairgrounds was another one that had that mystique. I loved that place. :thumbright:

Port and Selinsgrove both have good latemodel shows every week with Port having the outlaws on June 17 and Selinsgrove runs a couple of bigger shows each year also.

As a young kid I always liked Port Royal because you sat right on top of the track and it seemed much faster. As I got older I soon started to realize that I only got to see 1/3 (selinsgrove was still running 410s on saturday's) of the cars on saturday nights. I very soon started to like the grove more because I could see all of the areas best. I think that this is why the grove has become what it is today. It has been the exclusive friday night track for 410s for years (ever). I very rarely attend a regular sat. night race. Who wants to go to port royal and see lance win and then find out that rahmer won at lincoln. I would rather go to the grove and see lance beat rahmer. My point is this. Even for a fan it is that much greater to see your favorite driver win at the grove against all of the best then see them beat 1/2 of the best on sat.

Grove is the big show......not only are the cars not split up....neither are the greatest fans around in any sport! My only wish...They got Ports 50-50 girls last year.....bring on the concessions...

Who have been the leading winners at the Grove, Lincoln, and Port the last 4-5 years? There hasn't really been a super dominant driver at any of the tracks.....except maybe Mark Smith at Port.

Port - 15.1 seconds = 187.9' per second = 128.1 MPH
Eldora - 12.7 seconds = 180' per second = 122.7 MPH
Selinsgrove - 15.8 seconds = 176.9' per second = 120.6 MPH
Williams Grove - 16.1 seconds = 173' per second = 117 MPH
Lincoln - 12.7 seconds = 145.2' per second = 99 MPH

2014 Attendance Log:

Port - 12
Grove - 0 drove there and changed my mind
Others - 0

There is something in the air at The Grove ... I get a different feeling walking around those pits knowing that some of the racing worlds greatest drivers have been in that very place ... It's hard to explain ... You just have to experience it for yourself to feel it ... :cheers2:

I like the Grove because: It is sacred ground...there are many open wheel ghosts upon the grounds.

I do not have to "press two for english".

There are no debri cautions.

I feel proud to be an American there, instead of feeling like a minority (and I'm not talking the black card).

I can enjoy an ice cold beer amongst like fans.

The drivers and competition is as real and difficult as it gets, No WWF or monster truck atmosphere.

you can see two teams argue and then help each other in the same night.

It has real clay unlike the extreme East coast tracks

There is no bull chit there when the green drops..

The preshow is non existent.

Jeff Gordon would get nowhere complaining about how hard the inside wall is and should have been a SAFER barrier.

Did I mention no bull, cold beer, winged warriors, and the like of AJ Foyt and Andretti and Wolfgang have sawed wheels here?
