3-29-08 was a cold saturday at the races but the racing action was hot! Starting the 2008 season just like they ended the 2007 season found the Danny Miller owned #55 sitting in victory lane! The last two races at Williams Grove was won by Danny Hager in the #55 and now making his first ever start in the #55 was Paul Miller taking the opening night win! Paul dominated the 20 lap feature and even several cautions and a red did not allow contenders Frankie Herr #99 and Scott Dellinger #30 a chance to challange the leader! Fourth across the line was Rick Barr #00 followed in 5th by Carmen Perigo jr. #2a. Completing the top 10 were The 77 of Russ Mitten, the 45 of Dave Socks, the 10 of Jason Fry, the 30R of Derek Locke, and the 383 of Gregg Foster. The season started a little rough for a few drivers and lets hope they can rebound from their opening night experiences! John Stoner #4 broke a motor in hot laps. JR Fry #22H Flipped in his heat race, the team rebuilt the car and JR was able to qualify through the b-main, then during the feature JR tangled with the #80 of Doug Hendricks and took another nasty tumble just past the backstretch bridge! Both the 22H and the 80 were done for the night. Also in a heat race the #3B of mike Enders, #91 of Lanny Hake, and the #66 of Leroy Martin crashed hard at the end of the frontstretch! All 3 cars suffered severe damage, but thankfully no injuries were reported! 34 cars entered the nights events with 4 new rookies joining the class! #5 Dylan Cisney, #35 Gary Johnston, # 58 Jared Miller, and the #115 of Scott Ellerman made their rookie debut saturday night. The super sportsman will have two nights of racing this week, friday April 4th at Williams Grove joining the 410 spint cars at 7:30pm, and saturday april 5th at Lincoln joining the 410 sprints and the 358 late models at 6pm. In other saturday night racing the #84 of Tyler Armstrong won the 358 late model feature over Gene Knaub #1, Mike Walls #1W, Jared Miller #15, and Derrike Zirkle #21. Completing the top 10 were John Moser #4, Travis Mease #116, Mike Shoemaker #8, Jake Lettich #17, and Craig wagaman #30. 27 cars entered the nights events. A scary crash happened early in the night when Dallas Wenrich #34 clipped a spun car in turn 3 and flipped wildly without injury! The 4 cyl. stock cars ran a feature only with all 17 cars in attendance. A feature only was ran due to many cars showing up late after the lineup had been made! Reminder to all teams you must be present 45 minutes before the start time, that is 6:15 for the saturday night shows at Williams Grove. Anyway the 4 cyl' feature found the win going to Dave Leidy #21 over Kevin Thomas #3c, Leroy Long #84, Ronnie Garlock #40, and Dale Kreiser #23. Also on the card for opening night was a 30 lap enduro won by Don Murphy in his #17 chevy.
