i remember lincoln speedway tried that no drinking at the track many years ago, they called it no drinking lincoln.that went over like a fart in church.they should of closed the doors when they tried that, because the fans didnt support that, smokeing going to be the same, your going to rob someone of big dollars to see the circus race and then tell them thay cant smoke.you think the attendances are down now for those shows, just waite tell they push that issue,i can see *town houses and single family homes being build in the near future being built in cornfield county.another case were someone cant leave something the way it was before.this is just my jmo.

The three or four circus shows i went to last year seemed to have just as much or more than previous years crowds. As for the smoking i have absolutely no problem getting up and walking to a designated smoking area, i am just ecstatic that i will not be forced to sit with the hooligans on the backstretch :poking: if i want to drink a beer.

its simple for people who wanna smoke that sit in the grandstands! no smoking in the grandstands! take a minute to walk down and smoke a cig at intermission, or whenever you choose! and as long as its no smoking in the grandstands, flagmen trackcrew and drivers can smoke as much as they want! because they do not sit in the grandstands! its not a hard concept! there is plenty of walking ground and places to stand to smoke

As per the other thread on this issue it is stated that there will be designated smoking areas. Not that smoking will be allowed all other places than the grandstands. :dontknow:

Per the Williams Grove Web Site Home Page:

"To All Patrons:

Williams Grove Speedway will be making all grand stand seating smoke-free starting in 2012. We hope that people will refrain from smoking in the grand stands as much as possible during the 2011 season for the health of those around them."

I don't smoke but I could care less either way. I think it is funny how it says don't smoke for the health of others... Now I get that but it's a dirt track... There is the smell of fuel, occasional rubber burn, and a bunch of dust in the air everyone there is breathing. How is not smoking going to help the health of others when there is all that other stuff in the air? Just doesn't make sense to me. This wasn't meant to start an argument just my thought. :dontknow:

Yeah, it's not dead quite yet. I haven't come along with a post about how this might be a good time to quit smoking. Oh wait, I forgot, smokers have themselves convinced that they actually enjoy their addiction and can just quit any time they want - just like I used to think.

For what it's worth, fellow racing fans, think about how many friends you have who quit smoking and say they regret doing it. If you're like me, you don't have very many. I'm a former almost two pack-a-day smoker and unsuccessfully tried everything including hypnotism to quit. The owner of the dealership where I worked even offered to pay me $1,000 if I quit for three months and that was back in the 1980s, when a grand was even more than it is today. It's tough to break any addictive habit - nicotine, alcohol, drugs, gambling - and it wasn't until I looked at a little cigarette and told it that I was the stronger one that I felt I had a chance to kick the habit. I challenged myself to see how long I could go without a smoke and it was 12 years last November. I gained some weight but otherwise I feel better, breathe better and smell better to others. And I just can't fathom how people voluntarily pay forty to fifty bucks for a carton of cigarettes. I thought $17 for a carton was high when I quit!

Now if I could just push myself away from the table a couple of servings sooner...

Ed

thankfully Ed Ive never had to try to quit smoking but I know people close to me and I see what a nitemare they go thru trying. I can sympathize on the food portion thing...its not as easy to get up and walk away as people may think
