Can someone explain to me how the 410 sprint car owner points are awarded? Lance was in the 11 Lisi car Wuth a 30c top wing. His regular car owner was in Knoxville. How did he get the car owner points?

Because his number that night was 30c. And Catoctin Motorsports owns the 30c.

It doesn't matter who purchased or physically owns the parts of the car. Its all semantics.

Also, car owners need not be present to be awarded points.

they really need to change the award to WING NUMBER POINTS and be done with it.

it sure is a shame that Lance had to fly in...fly to pieces on the front stretch...and fly back in order to complete the requirements for 20th place points.

that second flight may well cost as much or more than the season end award.

If the car Lance was driving was entered as #30, no problem....

The fact that Lance was driving is immaterial for the owner points. It seems that all that matters is the number claimed during entry. Those are the rules, like it or not.

That said, I can imagine the irate posts that would have resulted had somebody else agreed to enter and run some other car as the #51 for the night, whether Fred flew back and forth or not - even though by the same rules (if I'm understanding the rules correctly), that would have also been a legit thing to do for owner points.

In the grand scheme of things, I see no possible way to formulate the rules such that in the process of covering the owners for legit situations, one doesn't also open things up for perceived "stretching" of the spirit of the rule even if the letter of the rule is not broken.

That's racing!

The points should go to the person who put up the money to enter the car in the race.
Pretty simple if you ask me.

I never knew there was an entry fee. How much is that and when did they start doing that? :cwm4:

The money they put up to enter the pits and to ready the car.
Could you show me where I used the term "entry fee''?
Of course I did use the term "simple" though.

I didn't know. I saw "money to enter" the car as entry fee. I thought you maybe knew something I wasn't aware of. But you didn't. :poking:

If the "fair" sausage is "awesome" how does the "really good" sausage taste?

Hope you enjoy the sausage (and everything else) at the fair! :thumbright:
