There's nothing in this world I'd rather do in my free time than go see a sprint car race. I enjoy every bit of the time I'm inside the gates. With that said, the only thing that can make me want to leave are the idiots in the stands who cheer accidents. No class whatsoever and no respect for the sport or the drivers in these cars.

It makes me even more angry to see people 'involved' with the sport defend people that do it. I've lost a lot of respect for otherwise good people because of this and it's still a problem with a few of the people inside the sport today. Just look at some of the posts from the same people every time this topic comes up over the past few years. If you're paying attention, you'll see who defends it and who won't tolerate it.

Standing between turn one and two Friday night, everyone was behaving
Then the 410s rolled out, Freds car stopped right in front of some younger fans,
They started with the Rahmer sux, a couple of photogs just looked at each other
And shook their heads, it's old and everyone is tired of hearing it. Your not funny
Your not cool. Your stupid.

I know I learned my lesson a few years back. I will tell you that yes At one time I was one of the people that cheer when a driver wrecked before knowing if he was ok or not. Mainly out of excitement(still not ok). Well then the Dale Earnhardt crash happened. I cheered and cheered that Dale Wrecked out of the Daytona 500( before knowing if he was ok). Well then half hour or so later I had heard Dale had passed away as a result of the crash. I felt so bad after that news I cried for 2 hours. I have not cheered at a crash since nor ever will until I find out if the driver is ok. Now the first thing I think is "Hope He's Ok"

was just thinking the same thing. Wonder how many of these same people beating the same proverbial dead horse have ever cheered for an injured athlete or even acted the same as the aforementioned group from Friday night. I bet some of u have done this in ur younger days.? No one wants to see anyone hurt they just get caught up in the heat of the moment.

I am not making excuses but race fans are passionate. How many of you have cheered Kyle Busch when he wrecks before finding out if he is ok? Its the nature of the beast. Some people can be rude, but, for as many people out there booing someone there are 10x's as many cheering. If it offends you, I suggest you let it go because its not going to stop anytime soon! Racing+beer+wrecks+favorite driver+least favorite = drunken yelling and screaming. :cheers2:

drop the "beer" and "drunken yelling" and we are l/2 way there. I cheer for my driver(s) and don't bother with the others. Guess that is too hard when the alcohol is talking.

I never have cheered for drivers crashing. Its classless & rude but on thing is for sure, I was at the grove on sunday september 2, 2007 as were many others on this board, & it changed the way I look at crashes forever.

I've been involved with a sprint car team for 7 years. As a fan, I have the guys I like and I cheer for them. I could care less about the guys I don't root for, but never really thought about rooting against them. Seems kinda stupid to me, and certainlly worse if you're chearing the wrecks. Yea, i understand your whole heat of the moment thing, but it doesn't really seem like a good excuse. Spend some time working to put a car on the track, and then see how you would like that treatment! By the way, without those additional cars and drivers, you wouldn't get the privelage to see your favorites race anymore!

No where in above post do I condone someone cheering for a driver wrecking. All I am stating is the obvious, it has happened, and it will continue to happen. I have spent time in the pits working on cars, and in the stands. I have seen both sides. Its the way it is. Unless people stop drinking and grow up its a moot point.

Eagles fans and people cheering wrecks have one thing in common, and it certainly isn't intelligence.
