They should amend the rule that 1/2 of the RUNNING field must pass the scoring stand to be a completed lap. That is what Lincoln does & there never seems to be any contravery about positions there.
That is what the transponders are used for. Not to turn events into a 1 lp short of the distance rip off the fans on the proper finish event. Just more BS from the office because no one knows what the hell is going on up there except how to count green backs!!!

Sorry Justin, I will retract that because apparently you must get over ruled on common sense decisions!

Everyone is so darn mad and fed up...........they'll all be back there Friday night standing in line, money in hand, anxious to get in and get unloaded. Why would any track or organization change a thing as long as everyone keeps coming back......just as you can't race without a track.........they can't race without cars. If you go out for dinner and get a bad meal....do you go back ? ........no...you take a break from the place for awhile and then give it one more try. I guess us racers don't use the same logic to race that we use to live our everyday lives, run our businesses and invest our money......must be something in the dirt :dontknow:

To the post above this one, I was shocked at what I perceived to be a record low attendance last Friday night, 6/22/12. It more resemble a SNS crowd. I know it is easy for everyone to claim "economy" but it was rather telling, low car count, low attendance and seems to be the writing is starting to show up on the wall. Meanwhile, it was nice to watch Ryan Smith battle Montieth for the win, just a shame there weren't more fans to see it or competitors to challenge for it.

I was not surprised at the number of fans there last Friday. Remember, there are a lot of races coming up in a week or so with higher then normal ticket prices and a lot of fans want to hit several of them. Saving up for Speedweek and an iffy weather forecast (50% chance of thunderstorms) probably are the reasons for the slightly smaller crowd.

I'd say it mostly had to do with weather. There was rain around the area all evening & at many times it got dangerously close. I know I left way later than I normally do because I was watching the weather & trying to make a decision. Even though I almost didn't go, I did & I was glad. I just wish we could get the car counts (especially the 358's) back up.

I started driving up to the Grove at the time that I normally do, and there was no rain until I got up to E-Town.

As I was driving west of E-Town, it started pouring hard so I turned around and headed back home.

I checked on the Forum to see if there was any info about the weather in the Grove area.

There were a few responses that it wasn't raining up there so I headed back up.

At one point during the night, a few light rain drops were coming down at the track.

If you looked towards Turn 2, there were a lot of dark clouds and flashes of lightning from time-to-time.

Yep I'd say those are the real reasons for the lower attendance. The week before speedweek is always a little low then factor in a high chance of rain.

For the record, I have no idea what the record low car count or attendance number is, was simply making a statement.
I agree that weather probably held of a number of fans.
