Someone find me how many races in Pennsylvania S. Smith has won outside the top few rows in the past several seasons. Whines about handicapped races, the same races Montieth, Dietrich and other real drivers win without complaining about. If Smith doesn't get an early draw/quick time, he is never a factor. Such artificial, cherry picked, wins. Sorry, just can't stand drivers who try to ruin racing because they are upset they can't win without their TT lap. And, if you reference the opener win he had, he started in the front there too.

And, as much as it might not seem, this is not a trolling post, I just had to say something as I don't think the amount of praise he gets is at all deserved. I am just pointing out that he is not a racer, he is a cherry picking whiner. He might be a nice guy, but that doesn't change anything else and I don't believe he deserves 10% of the credit he gets these days.

If someone proves me wrong beyond one race, I take it back.

I don't care how he wins his races, fact is he wins them. I'm just happy to see him race in the area a decent amount of races each year. In my opinion that is much better than having him around for only 6 WoO races a year. That goes for any other driver too, any car that is in the pits here is another car we as fans get to see, the more the merrier.

I might be able to assume the opinion that since Stevie's Smith is a professional race car driver; he is good. My memory is bad but didn't he run Outlaws for many years with a lot of wins? Did he win all those as a "cherry picking whiner"? I would think one could get lucky once in a while, but in theory over time, you have to be pretty good to be a professional sprint car driver. My assumptions and theories could be all wrong though.

I have to remind 111, who might not have been around these tracks to see a much younger Stevie Smith race, that he won a LOT of handicapped shows in these parts from deep in the field. His success locally is what earned him rides in some very good cars, with Al Hamilton's 77 being one of the first of them and the car he is in now certainly isn't low-profile. To say that Stevie Smith didn't "earn his stripes" is simply being incorrect. On top of that, a nicer guy and better ambassador for the sport would be hard to find.

I think Ole 111 has a lil dislike for The Bandit. Stevies belief is that of the Outlaw nature. Time trial races are the only way to line up a show.
He is by far a superior driver still in his older years as he was when he first started. :D

Kinda sounds like sprintfan111 is the whiner cause his favorite did not win so he comes on here to bash Stevie. I kinda recall Stevie coming from the 6th starting spot at Bedford a few years back to win the speedweek show, bedford is a nice track but hard to pass when it was as good as it was that night but he made it look easy! Does that count or should Stevie have to win from the back every race? And why did the real racers not pass him then?
