Williams Grove readies for 2nd Annual 358 Late Model Topless 30. Race to pay the winner $1,200.
This Saturday July 14th is topless night at Williams Grove Speedway… No worries, the Williams Grove Saturday Night Series will still be family friendly as only the 358 Late Models will be topless. The Late Models will be removing their roofs to give the fans a unique perspective as they compete in their biggest race of the year. The Topless 30, which is presented by Superior Homes and Palmer’s Automotive, will pay $1200 to win and $800 for second. A payout increase will also be given to all 24 starters. The Super Sportsman & Street Stocks will also be part of the night’s program. You get all three divisions for a General Admission of only $5. It is certainly the best deal in racing.
The race, a vision of former Late Model driver and Williams Grove official Kenny Riland also has a lot of perks available to the drivers in attendance. The night will start off with the Miller’s Racing Parts Time Trials which will give the Fast time qualifier an extra $200.00 courtesy of Miller’s Racing Parts. In the Feature some of the hardest racing may come from back in the pack as H&H Speed Equipment will present the Hard Charger with an extra $250.00. Also random give aways will be given out to the starting field as Bert Racing Transmissions will give away (2) Rear Axles; Lias Tire/American Racer and HTMA/Hoosier Racing Tires have both donated Tire Certificates; Pancho’s Racing Products will be providing gift certificates and a wheel to be given away. Bernheisel Race Components will also supply gift certificates to be given away throughout the night. Magical Incense Shop from Mechanicsburg, Pa has also come onboard as a sponsor for the 2012 edition of the Topless 30.
Anyone who can pull off a last lap pass for the win in the feature will receive an extra $100 courtesy of Miller’s Racing Parts. To receive the bonus, a driver must take or regain the lead on the final lap and go on to win the feature.
“Last year, worked well and we want to keep getting it better every year for the late models” said organizer Ken Riland. “I have to thank everyone involved; I could not have done it without Donnie Brodrick of Superior Homes and Bill Palmer of Palmer’s Automotive. We wouldn’t be doing this without them. The extra help we have gotten in money and product have come from HTMA, Lias Tire, H&H Speed Equipment, Millers Racing Parts. Bert, & Pancho’s Racing Parts. All of these companies together have made this race possible. The fans will get to see the drivers more clearly without the roofs and it should be a fun night. We already are planning ahead for 2013” added Riland.
The non-points race will feature an open tire rule and be run in the same format as the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek as far as group qualifying and with the top finishers in their heats redrawing for their feature starting spots. All other Williams Grove Speedway Rules & Specifications apply.
Williams Grove Speedway announced that proceeds from the 50/50 drawing will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in memory of Linda Bigler, daughter of Kenny & his wife Beth. Linda was a long time scorer at Williams Grove Speedway who passed away after a long battle with cancer this past offseason.
