This morning I lost my Brother Paul to pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed two years ago this month and fought a courageous battle. Thought we had it a couple of times. Actually ran the Broad Street Marathon in May and completed it, he got to cross it off his bucket list. I will always treasure the memories we shared together as kids running around Williams Grove Speedway on friday nights and Silver Springs Speedway on saturday nights. Our Pop would always give us a few bucks when we got there and cut us loose. Tried to save the cash to buy stuff at the souvenir stand so that meant hunting down orphaned programs between races so we didn't have to buy them. We would always meet up with Pop just before feature time. Afterwards we always went into the pits to check out the race cars and get autographs. Of course getting the most became a competition. Great times, great people, great memories.
This happens to be pancreatic cancer month and the color purple is the signature color to symbolize the fight against this horrible disease. Please take a moment this week and wear something purple. A shirt, ribbon, socks, maybe a piece of jewelry. He was a huge Vikings fan so if you got a Jersey, hat, or t-shirt wear it proudly in his honor.
Rest in Peace Brother
