I've only seen them on you tube... but there fireworks displays last like an hour!! Port Royal has like 7 bottle rockets and that's it. They don't even set them off at the right time. The cars are already racing when the last ones go off! :goeagles:

It's a shame they don't do away with the fireworks and put that money in the purse for the drivers. What does a good sized fireworks display cost? 8-10K? Complete waste IMO.

I'd be interested to know if the track sees an increase in attendance when they have firework shows. If these shows bring in more or new fans then they are a good marketing tool. If they are not, then running a show with an increase payout or a special would make more sense. Personally when I think of fireworks, I think of the 4th of July or other summer holidays. If done too much it kind of takes the wow factor out of them.

Save the fireworks for WoO events, and AFTER when The Posse is in victory lane.

I remember a few times, where track officials had to scour the backstretch for firework debris, which in turn lengthened the intermission. :ahhhh:

Or worse, when a driver flips over the turn four wall and lands on one causeing it to set off into the cockpit of the car, especially if their fuel cell comes off and could have possible leaked fuel everywhere...

I think they do have the best displays, just way to many of them. Then the night gets even longer for folks that drive a ways each week. Maybe think about putting them on after the features and those that want to see them can and keep the show moving. They do become routine and not really a treat with the amount of them. I also do see the risk with them near the track. We saw what could have happened when Arron Ott when over the wall in that area. I shudder to think what could have happened.
