Dan Dietrich and Daryn Pittman both had a best TT of 17.340. Dietrich went out 11th in the TT order and Pittman went 42nd. Dietrich's other lap was 17.340 and Pittman's was 17.343. So why was The 9 car 16th fast and made the heat race invert and the 48 was 17th? Obviously this made A big difference on how the night went for both cars.
All ties in TT go to the Outlaw car? :dontknow:

In the event of the tie. like you say both had a time of 17.340. you would think they wold go by the next decimal.Say both had 17.340's one may have had 17.340.2 and one may have had 17.340.0. This is just Hypothetical, but could've been the deciding factor in the tie breaker. :dontknow:

They used to break the tie by whomever ran the lap first, which was a silly rule as in most cases, the track goes away as time trials continue and it's actually harder to go out late and run the same time.

Now, to break a tie, they take the best of of the 2 laps, which is fairer in most cases. Pittman's 2nd lap was faster than Dietrich's and he got the spot.

Dietrich's backup was 17.340 and Pittman's was 17.343.

Evidently they don't use their own rule book

"F.) In the event of two or more cars posting the same time in time trials, the tie
breaker will be the fastest other lap time of the two consecutive recorded laps. If
this does not break the tie, the tie will be broken by the qualifying order draw. In
the event that one (1) lap qualifying is utilized the tie breaker will be the qualifying
order draw."

I had DD's laps as this. First. 17:382 Second 17:340. Pittman's First was 17:340. second 17:343. This is what the posted times were on the scoreboard , which would give it to Pittman.

Um, the other lap did break the tie.

You people are really scrambling to find something to complain about. The WoO series run their events by the rulebook. Gibson announces the rule on the mic most of the time before the decision is made by the officials actually make their call.
I think they now put on a pretty well run show.
