USAC @ the Grove

Post by cjettmail » Thu Jun 05, 2014 12:30 pm

How many people want USAC @ the Grove? I do, I like to see 6 or 7 races or more! The more I see them the better I like them. If we had more races and payed them good we would see more drivers.

Everyone is always asking about our guys taking their wing off when they are in the area, you think any of them may though a wing ON since the Eastern Storm is off Friday???

I wouldn't be surprised if Brady did.
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?

I didnt see a big crowd last nite to see USAC so why would the Grove schedule them, it wasnt all the weather forecast either.

I'd rather see them race a Friday at Path Valley.

In the mid or late 80's, USAC tried to give the promoters a choice. They could run a winged show or a wingless show. I believe Lincoln and Williams Grove both booked the winged show. Williams Grove had rained out. Lincoln was the only track to get their show in. The thing was, only TWO teams made the trip east! I think one was the USAC champion, Steve Butler in the Stoops Freightliner car. From what I can remember, USAC gave Lincoln's promoter the chance to drop their sanction, due to the "light" turn out of USAC teams. The promoter chose that option and ran a "regular" show.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Ballou will not run Friday night with a wing. He didn't even have a car put together to run the USAC stuff here and has had some terrible luck just getting a car together, his truck breaking down, the tow truck company not showing up to tow the truck, the new tow truck company damaging the truck, a donated truck to pull his trailer unable to handle his trailer and subsequent last minute begging for a truck to get his trailer to the track.

His shirts say it all, the "empty pockets tour 2014". They are pretty cool, help the guy out and buy a few!!

I offered him the use of a top wing and all the parts to make it work for the Grove, but he is exhausted and needs some rest and a little time to re-group for Saturday and Sunday.
Dirt's for racing, asphalt's for gettin' there!

I think the Lincoln crowd had something to do with the forecast of calling for rain showers beginning around 8pm.. The action we saw prior to the rain was better than any snoozer I've seen at the grove this season
2015 races:
5 Lincoln
2 Hagerstown
5 Williamsgrove
11 Port Royal
14 Path Valley
1 Selinsgrove
1 Susky
1 New Eygpt
1 Kutztown Action Track USA
1 Uttica Rome
1 Kokomo In.
1 Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway
1 Gas City I 69 In.
