PA Oiler wrote:$18 to get in. I guess this charity event is being paid by the fans. The track can write it off as a charitable donation the fans can't. The track should be paying for this not the fans. If they are making us pay for this at least get rid of the fireworks and TT's.
PA Oiler hit the nail on the head. No reason for the admission to be $18. Fans pay for the charity, Grove writes it off. Ridiculous

Williams Grove, you're my favorite racetrack, but we the fans should not have to fork out an extra $4 in admission to pay for some charity. I have no problem paying $18 for a race if I know the extra $4 in admission was going into the purse FOR THE RACERS (not some charity or fireworks)!!!! When the All Stars come to town in a few weeks, general admission is $18. Whatever the purse is for that race, the racers should be getting that tonight if we the fans are paying $4 more in admission. I know the winner is getting $4,000 to win tonight (an extra $400 more than a weekly show), but I hope extra money is being paid out throughout the rest of feature purse. I'm sure the 305 Sprint purse is less than the 358 Sprint purse.

I totally agree. If you feel that bad about coming to the races for an evening of fun and relaxation. Why not stay home and shut up! :dontknow:

I love the "real" race fans telling people to stay home. In case you haven't been paying attention between sips of your beverage of choice, there are a lot of people staying home on Friday nights, so telling more to stay home because you think you're cool and you have no problem letting race tracks #@%& you over week after week is not a smart thing to do. But then again when the only life you have is sitting at a race track, it makes it easier to understand.

I want to be at the Grove everyweek, But I won't let a race track take my money when they are not giving me good racing. The racing hasn't been good at the Grove most of this year. To many TT races & fireworks also add the extra $3 for tix I'll go to Lincoln or Port & Selinsgrove this weekend. If people want to go to the Grove That's there choice !! By the size of crowds on Fri. nights it looks like a lot of people are not going to the Grove! Go back a few years the Grove would be full on every Fri. night. I just want the Grove to get back to what it should be ( the best track on the East ).

I get the frustrations over the way the track has been going the last few years, but the racing has been getting better, the All Star show was really good, Outlaw show had some good battles and this week seems to have been a good race.

I was one of those who went...the feature was pretty good.

The crowd was as bad as I have ever seen it, open seats on the top row of every section - at first I thought it was a Saturday night show.

Perhaps the usual Friday night crowd followed advice from the posts above and stayed home?

The format seemed ridiculous, did the allstars sanction the show?

So do i but telling people to stay home makes 0 sense. Like BRR said looks like more people are starting to listen to you. Kind of hard to have a track when its "real fans" are telling people to stay home. Maybe the track should listen to some of the complaints and do something about them, instead of thinking they are perfect and know everything.

I agree thats twice this year so far they've done a format that I didn't even understand how they did it? Buckwalter won his heat and started 13th or 14th. They should do either the current Allstar or WoO format they make the heat races matter.

Actually it is the constant complaining going here that is hurting the crowds. Thats why the complainers should stay home and others decide on their own. I hear many people say they read here that everything is going downhill so they decide not to attend. So i will stand by what i said. Stay home if you dont like it. But quit b!tching here about every little thing.

there are people at Lincoln who seldom go to the grove and they always reference one of the following:
1 - don't like the track conditions
2 - don't like the format
3 - don't like the price vs. quality of racing
4- don't like the outlaws
5- don't like the food (just kidding)

Not once has anyone told me the internet or a web page talked them out of going to the races, but I have only been going since 1964 so they might not miss my $ if I decide to do something else on a Friday...

If you think charging $18 for a race that only pays $400 more to win is not screwing the fans i dont know what to tell you.

If you think giving fans cold pizza is not screwing fans i dont know what to tell you.

If you think over charging for food is not screwing fans i dont know what to tell you.

Some fans can continue to stick their head in the sand and think The Grove does nothing wrong. Thats their choice, but I'll continue to sit out weeks like last Friday night where the track charges more to get in just so they can claim they gave $ to charity even though the fans gave it.

With that said see you all Friday night.

And Brent if you truly believe that I'm sorry. I'm in the same boat with BRR I've never heard a fan say they wont go to a track because some idiot on a message board said something bad about the track. Thats an easy excuse instead of of trying to fix the problems they truly have, which for some tracks they are many.
