Finally got myself motivated to finish my 2011 photos just in time for the start of the 2012 season.

Galleries from all 3 days can be found here: http://www.brentsmithphotography.com/2011/RoadAtlanta2011

I kinda had an 'off' weekend and didn't get many amazing shots. The fact that the temporary lights were in slightly different locations from previous years didn't help either.

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem.

Fantastic images Brent. The ALMS and GrandAm cars make for a great photo op. I've never made t to Road Atlanta and need to add that to my schedule sometime soon.

If you ever get the chance you have to go Joe. Road Atlanta is an amazing track and TV doesn't do it justice. The elevation changes are huge and it has some very high speed sections. My only complaint is the layout of the track compared to the sun. Without a photo pass it is tough to shoot during the early stages of the race as I'm always shooting into the sun. Once the sun starts to go down a lot more angles open up but it is impossible to get to all of them before the light runs out.

Hey Brent, how does it compare to Mid-Ohio (I believe you have shot there)? The elevation changes make the photo ops absolutely fantastic! I've done Indy Car at Cleveland and St Petersburg and the street/airport courses are just OK in comparision.

Like Brent said...GO!!! Road Atlanta is an awesome place to both shoot and watch from....the esses are jaw dropping and the run into turn 10 is another site to be seen....if I could have only seen it when it still had the "dip" ....there really isnt a bad corner to watch or shoot from.....the ARRC is an easy event to get a photo pass for....thats what I did in 07 or 08

Way better than Mid Ohio for photo ops IMO.

Great set of photos!

I've been wanting to get down there for The Mitty for a couple years.

Well, it's settled then! Road Atlanta gets added near the top of the bucket list!

The Mitty is a great event and so is the ARRC...the ARRC is a laid back SCCA club event for regional classes...its kind of like their unofficial official championship

Thanks for all the replies. I've really come to enjoy shooting this style of racing over the past 4 years.
