BIG DIAMOND RACEWAY NEWS AND NOTES AS 2008 OPENER QUICKLY APPROACHES


Forestville, PA- March 6, 2008- Just as Spring is right around the corner so is the 2008 season opener at Big Diamond Raceway on Saturday March 29. The Big Block Modifieds will take to the track in a 40 lap feature event paying $4,000 to win. The Sportsman and Roadrunner divisions will have test and tune sessions scattered throughout the nights program and following the feature event.


Grandstand admission for the event is $12 for Adults, Students(11-17), Seniors(Over 60), and Military ID $10, Children 10 and under are admitted FREE.
Pit admission for the event is $25 (no license required), Pit Gates will open at 3:30PM, Grandstands 4PM, and Warm-Ups are tentatively scheduled for 6PM thus allowing competitors that participate in practice sessions at Grandview and Bridgeport Speedway the opportunity and time to travel. Sunday March 30 will act as a rain date for this event.


Big Block Modifieds must weigh 2500 lbs, Small Blocks 2400 lbs and it is Open 13x 92" tires. 40 Laps $4,000 to win and $200 to take the green.


A new promotion this season at Big Diamond Raceway is one that is sure to draw interest from anyone that travels to the track on Friday nights. Sheetz convenience stores will be presenting a select number of fans with a gift card that is able to be used for anything in the store at all Sheetz locations. "With this exciting promotion from Sheetz the lucky recipients of these gift cards will be able to leave the track and stop on the way home for gas in their vehicle if needed or a few refreshments. " stated track partner Buddy Biever.


Several Big Diamond Raceway competitors have called to inform us of their plans for 2008...


Keith Hoffman will be behind the wheel of the MAD Motorsports, Specialty Rigging, Moose Eisenhard 11D Bicknell car for 2008 at BDR.


Duane Howard is excited to be returning to BDR on a regular basis in 2008 with the BPG Racing Troyer car and Main power.


Kevin Hirthler will be making a return to BDR on Friday nights in 2008, Kevin will miss the March 29 opener due to prior commitments for the evening.


Gary Hager was expecting to return to BDR in the modified class after a long absence but is currently waiting on a motor.


Ken Eckert Jr. will be in a Troyer car purchased from Jimmy Reppert with M2 power for 2008, Perma-Column is a new sponsor on the 29 car.


Mike Nicholas is returning with his 2000 something Teo car with sponsorship from Kauffman's Chicken BBQ and Keystone Protein.


Danny Nicholas has upgraded from a 1992 Teo to a 2007 former Craig Von Dohren Teo car.


Jordan Umbenhauer is seeking a Sportsman title in a Teo with Gechter-Trout power.


Ray Swinehart is back to having fun racing and also back to yellow race cars, Ray will return to BDR in a Morrison powered 2007 Bicknell.


Codie Berk will be leaving BDR Sportsman action to compete in a 305 sprint at Heston Speedway.


Sean Merkel will make select appearances in 2008 at BDR.


Terry Meitzler returns in the Bailey 81 with the trusty 2003 Bicknell with CMS power.


Shawn Reimert will return to BDR in the Gagliardo 41a a 2008 Bicknell with Squeak power.


Kyle Weiss will return in the Schaeffer's Harley-Davidson RAACE Foundation 21K for Modified action in 2008.


Rich Stankiewitz will be behind the wheel of a self owned 2007 Teo for Sportsman action.
