Tri-City added to FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series Labor Day Weekend with $2,000 to winner
By Mike Leone

August 12, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Franklin, PA…The FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series announced today the addition of an event to be held Saturday and Sunday, August 30 and 31 at Tri-City Speedway in conjunction with the Oil Region Labor Day Classic World of Outlaw Late Model event.

Saturday will include heat races and then on Sunday the last chance B main(s) and 30-lap feature event will be held, which will pay $2,000 to-win, $200 to-start making it the richest event to date on the 2008 schedule.

“Tri-City has been a requested venue for a Touring Series event since they announced they were joining the weekly FASTRAK fold,” explained Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “In our second season, Tri-City has given FASTRAK a weekly Sunday home and this will be a great way to end the 2008 season and showcase our competitive Touring Series in front of a large audience. We realize this is a late add, but the drivers and fans have really wanted to see a Touring event at Tri-City and didn’t want to pass up a $2,000 to-win event.”

After seven completed events there has yet to be a repeat winner. Max Blair, who also leads the $10,000 National Weekly Series, is also the current Touring Series point leader, which will pay $5,000 to the champion. The Centerville, Pa. 18-year-old opened the 2008 Touring Series with a victory on May 24 at McKean County Raceway. Since then the following drivers have been victorious: Frank Guidace (Mercer), Alan Dellinger (Dog Hollow), John Lacki (Raceway 7), Kyle Drum (McKean), Bobby Powell (Expo), and Mike Pegher, Jr. (Raceway 7).

Blair has a 21-point lead over Powell heading into the next Touring Series event on Sunday, August 24 at Eriez Speedway. Dog Hollow Speedway will hold their second and final Touring Series event the night prior to Tri-City on Friday, August 29. Following Tri-City, Mercer Raceway Park will hold their second and final event on Saturday, September 13 followed by race number three at McKean County on September 26.

At Tri-City, gates open at 2 p.m. both days with racing at 6. A two-day pit pass is $60 and the entry fee is $100. Tri-City Speedway is a half-mile oval located seven miles north of Franklin, Pa. off Route 417.
