Jake Jones Racing Welcomes a new Crew Member… Starts off 2012 Season with Top 5 Run.

To say it has been an exciting week, is an understatement for Jake Jones and his family. Jake and his wife Steph welcomed their second son into the world when Dylan Lewis Jones was born on Monday. Both the 9lbs-4oz future late model driver and his mother are home and doing great. Big brother Jax already has plans to teach Dylan how to scrape mud. “It has just been an amazing week” said the 29 year old Jones. “Everything went well at the hospital and it is just the best thing in this world to watch Jax interact with his little brother. It is weeks like this that remind you what really is important in life” added Jake.

On the racing front, Jake Jones Racing started their 2012 Season on Saturday when the team ventured south to Hagerstown Speedway. A great pill draw, helped set up, what would be a pretty good night at the Maryland half mile. After winning his competitive heat race the team made the necessary changes to the Miller’s Racing Parts Red/Yellow #43 in preparation for the 20 lap feature. Rolling off from the pole, Jake jumped out to a lead and comfortably led the first 6 laps around the big speedway. After a series of yellows, the track’s double file restarts helped shuffle the field and Jake was pressured and passed for the lead. At one point dropping back to 4th, before rallying for a great 3rd place finish when the checkered flag was thrown.

“The track was really good and held up well all night” stated Jake. “We were just a little off in the feature but it was a great way to start the season. Those top 3 cars started using each other up a little and I figured I would just stay a couple car lengths off just in case they really got together hard. Kyle and Brian worked hard all night, I’m glad I could get them a good finish. I really want to thank my family, sponsors & crew. Without everyone’s help there is not any way I could be doing this. My whole crew works hard, not just at the track, but all week long at the shop. They make my job a lot easier” added Jones.

Jake Jones Racing will be taking this coming weekend off to spend time with family, but will be in action on Saturday April 24th when the Williams Grove Speedway Saturday Night Series kicks off its 2012 season at the famed half mile in Mechanicsburg.

Jake Jones Racing would like to thank of the team’s sponsors:
