Englishtown final notes

Post by RT88 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:11 am

A good weekend of racing at E-Town for the NHRA tour. The cloud cover kept the track temp down resulting in the quickest pro stock and pro stock motorcycle fields in the history of the NHRA.

The Melanie Troxell loss in the first round of Pro Mod was staggering. She was in a world of her own in qualifying as she continued to knock down the all-time records. The she goes out in the first round with a horrible .433 reaction time. That was a stunning upset.

After the Scott Kalitta crash several years ago, thankfully they put up the big nets at the end of the track. Leah Pruett Leduc's crash in pro mod would have been much, much worse if it wasn't for the netting. She was way, way late in getting the chutes out. She went very hard into the netting and rolled her car over. She walked away from the wreck and raced the next day.

Quote of the weekend came from none other than John Force. He said "I am 62-years old and I came here 100 years ago." We all just shook our heads on that one.

Vincent Nobile borrowed an engine from Allen Johnson to race and then meets Allen in the final. Allen said he was quite aware Vincent was going hard to take Johnson out.

Frank Manzo won his 94 national race in alky funny car. He is going for his 16th title.
