Live at Maple Grove

Post by RT88 » Sat Oct 03, 2015 10:23 am

No rain at Maple Grove and track drying is underway. Weather forecast is for overcast. They feel the track will be ready in about two hours due to the cold weather. Feeling is records will fall.

Well famous last words because no sooner do I post this and a shower moves in and track drying stops. Real shame because the track was drying nicely

This is going to be interesting. Pro classes are going on a one round shot for qualifying. Each team gets one shot at the track and that is it. Top fuel goes at one thirty. Top fuel and funny car each have 16. Pro stock will have a bump with 17. Bikes are short with only 14 on hand

Engines are firing in the pits a very good sign. There was a brief sprinkle but drying continues. They are laying rubber down on both lanes

They are calling top fuel into the lanes. Another schedule chnge no sportsman classes but they are going to try and get two rounds of pros. Pit side stands are filling in but opposite side stands are empty

Because of weather concerns they stop alky top fuel and call up nitro top fuel. Nitro cars are rolling in. Alky cars will time first thing tomorrow morning. We are holding due to a mist

They just cancelled second round for pro stock and bike. Nitro is still on at this point. We see nitro cars turning around and heading back.

Although almost everyone has left they have not cancelled. They just began drying the track and will try another round of nitro. Drew Skillman said there is no track at all with the cold it is hard to get a grip. One top fuel team is sweating bullets because they skipped round one. If there is no round two they do not grt in even with a 16 car field

Eddie Krawiec said his fast time was one of the scariest runs of his career. When he shifted into fourth the front tire starting sliding but he had to stay in the throttle to save the cycle.
