Gettysburg 150th by Tony De Seta

Post by Buildy » Thu Jul 11, 2013 7:55 am

At the last minute I decided to go Friday to the re-enactment. It was brutally hot out,but I enjoyed it. Again at the last moment, I went back for the big finale Sunday. Not having media access,I had to commit very early on to one spot to shoot from if I wanted anything of the action close up. I ended up with a front row seat for Pickett`s charge on what would be Little Round Top at the real battlefield. Unfortunately,as far back as the border of the field was,you couldn`t see very much of the close-in fighting at the fence. I enjoy taking portraits and photos in the camps, and there are numerous chances to do that. This was probably the biggest re-enactment ever, but even though next year will be smaller with less re-enactors there,I want to go back.

Confederate Cavalry approach the battlefield on July 5th.

Great shots Tony!
Now I know my wife and I should have been there.
