Called the track to verify tire rule. Goodyears are required on both rear corners..........

What's the big deal about goodyears??? All the top dogs seem to make them work

As far as tires go they're ok. But they are a "track tire" which by inception where mean't to save teams money by offering an inexpensive alternative to the open comp tires. These are in fact the most expensive tires we've ever purchased and thats because of the thousand of dollars they bribe the tracks and sanctioning bodies with in order to become the tire of choice. Goodyear doesn't even make the tires in their own plant but use a contractor to produce the tires. We were planning on running a goodyear on the right anyhow but thought we might experiment with another brand on the left rear. Which these type of rules stiffle...........experimenting!!! I thought most of you like teams to experiment?
As for the the so called "top dogs" making them work their learing curve is much shorter then a team like ours thats only run them a hand full of races over the past two years. We only ran 4 or 5 races each of the past two years against teams running twice a week and sometimes more.
But the cats out of the bag. Regardless of brand, we are now stuck with some tire company giving the tracks thousands of dollars each year to become the mandated tire at inflatted prices. I'm curious as to which tire brand we'll be stuck with next year.............
I appologize if some or even many of you that are tired of my constant complianing about tire rules but I've paid for the right to do so and i don't believe I'll stop anytime soon..........
