Clair and Steve get along well. It's like family. They work well together, they respect each other, they sit down and make a schedule during the off season and base it off their BUDGET, if the season isn't going as planned they make adjustments on the fly. The original game plan is to run twice a week, Williams Grove and Port Royal, they planned to hit most of the two 410 Sprint Car Speedweeks, most of the Outlaw shows (Locally) , and most of the big races at the end of the year. They also, schedule is USAC Midget Week, the Gold Crown, some ARDC Shows but at the season goes on, things don't go right, he gets collected up into more accidents, has more mechanical issues than expected or anything else that make occur, the schedule changes.
The major difference between a team like Hodnetts or Rahmers is FUNDS. When the 17b is on rail, it runs more. Instead of just running Williams Grove, they add on Port Royal. It has been this way for years. If they had a bigger budget, you'd see the 17b out on the track MORE. When Stevie was running good last year they ran more often. The team had a rough start to the season, lost a car and motor, and had other mechanical issues, too. So they had to adjust accordingly.
They would be out there 2 nights a week, if possible and they are when possible.
Stevie is committed to running the 17b for Clair, and Clair is just as committed to Stevie regardless of what he runs. They work together well; he has a great group of people that put a ton of effort into the car at the track and away from the track. They also, go to the track to win and have fun at the same time.
This is a full-time gig for Stevie and Clair, right now they are just a 1 night a week team, and some weeks twice!
