Danny Holtgraver On A Roll - Ready For 'Ohio Sprint Speedweek' !!

[Pittsburgh, PA - 6/18/12 ] Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native and current All-Star Circuit of Champions 'Ohio Region' title contender, Danny Holtgraver, has been on a roll in '410' sprint car competition in the recent weeks. The former Lernerville Speedway sprint car track champion now has three wins in his last four starts in Western Pennsylvania; including a win Saturday night, June 16th, at Mercer Raceway Park during the annual 'Auto Racers For Kids' charity event worth $3,000! Holtgraver swept action in Western Pennsylvania last Friday and Saturday; winning at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, and Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The Kargo Quality Cars and Trucks 'D4' nearly swept action at the two tracks again this weekend; finishing third at Lernerville Speedway on Friday, June 15th, and earning the $3,000 charity win on Saturday, June 16th. Holtgraver and the entire team then decided to donate $500 of the $3,000 pay day back to the 'Auto Racers For Kids' charity so that it may benefit the organization.

"Feels awesome!" explained Danny Holtgraver about his recent weekend in Western Pennsylvania, "We had a pretty good run at Lernerville on Friday to finish third...then to turn around and win the charity deal is a great feeling...we wanted to give something back so we decided to donate $500 to the 'Auto Racers For Kids' charity...just a really great weekend!"

As far as Holtgraver's upcoming schedule is concerned, it is about to get busy. Holtgraver and the entire Kargo Quality Cars/Alternative Power Sources 'D4' operation will hit the road for 10 straight days of '410' sprint car action across Ohio and Pennsylvania, with all but one taking place in the 'Buckeye State.' The 30th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek is about to take off on Friday, June 22nd, and will not come to a rest until the following Saturday, June 30th! Nine straight days of All-Star Circuit of Champions 'Ohio Sprint Speedweek' action will engulf Holtgraver's upcoming schedule; with the 10th day of action coming at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 1st! Some of the best sprint car teams in the country will travel the entire speedweek circuit; including all of the All-Star regulars and Ohio based teams.

"We are really excited to get this Ohio Sprint Speedweek started!" said Holtgraver, "We are looking to go out there and put up some good runs and hopefully snag a few wins...the next few days are going to be extremely busy getting things ready for next week...we are excited about it and hopefully we can represent all of our sponsors and supporters well and earn some good finishes!"

With 'Ohio Sprint Speedweek' being sanctioned as All-Star Circuit of Champions 'Ohio Region' events, the nine straight days of competition will hopefully allow Holtgraver to gain some ground in the current championship standings. Dale Blaney leads the current All-Star 'Ohio Region' point standings over defending All-Star Circuit of Champions' champion, Tim Shaffer; and second year 'Ohio Region' traveler, Danny Holtgraver. The 'D4' finds itself just 121 markers out of the top spot in the current 'Ohio Region' standings, as well as sitting comfortably inside the top 12 in the All-Star 'National' standings.

When speedweek comes to a close on Saturday, June 30th, Holtgraver and the rest of the team will venture back to familiar territory for an event at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near Imperial, Pennsylvania. 'Dirt's Monster Half Mile' will host Midwest All-Star sprint car action on Sunday, July 1st, with a full program of weekly divisions also scheduled on the evening card. Holtgraver has a number of wins at the big half mile, and looks to add another to his resume and keep his Western Pennsylvania dominance alive.

Saturday's race rundown per Mercer Raceway's site: :yessss:

Mercer, PA (June 17, 2012): Danny Holtgraver saved his best for last, as he barely edged out Rob Chaney to take the Sprint portion of the Auto Racers for Kids benefit race held at Mercer Raceway Park. Not to be outdone, Kyle Fink also made an amazing last lap pass to capture the win in the 358 Modifieds.

Mike Miller was a first-time winner in the Outlaw Sprint Warriors. Alan Knepper scored his first victory of the season in the Modified Lites, while Curtis J. Bish and Pete Blazak returned to winner’s circle in the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks.

The luck of the draw put Holtgraver on the pole, but, much to the surprise of the large crowd, Eric Williams bolted out to the early lead. Williams was strong on the outside, and Holtgraver was constantly working the inside. However, Williams held control through the first nine laps of the event.

Holtgraver made his first strong move to take the lead away on lap ten. The very next circuit, Paul McMahan repeated the maneuver on Williams. McMahan closed rapidly on Holtgraver and took the lead away from him on lap 13.

While McMahan began to stretch a lead on Holtgraver, Rob Chaney started to move ahead. McMahan, who ran in the top five throughout the race, snuck by Holtgraver on lap 20.

When McMahan’s car suddenly came to a halt, that put Chaney and Holtgraver side by side for the restart. McMahan assumed command, but Holtgraver never let him get too far away.

Bob Ferlmlee entered the fray and a three car battle was on for the top spot. Felmlee displaced Holtgraver for second on lap 26, Holtgraver regained the position on the next lap.

With the final laps counting down, Holtgraver went to the whip in order to reel in Chaney. When the pair entered turn one on the last lap, Holtgraver was within striking distance.

Chaney led the way down the backstretch. He entered turn three in the middle, but he left a little too much room on the inside as he came through the final corner. Holtgraver saw his opportunity and he pounced. He dove to the inside and pulled even with Chaney. They touched wheels coming down to the finish line, but both drivers were able to maintain control. When the checkers flew, Holtgraver had a slim .102 margin of victory!

In the final laps, Williams came back for third. Felmlee was fourth, and Andy McKisson completed the top five.

Sheldon Haudenschild, Rod George, Brandon Matus, Arnie Kent and Aussie Marty Perovich were sixth through tenth.

Holtgraver, McKisson and Perovich scored the heat wins for the 32 Sprints on hand. The B Main winner was Brandon Matus. The dash belonged to Haudenschild.

Sprint Shoot Out Feature: Danny Holtgraver, Rob Chaney, Eric Williams, Bob Felmlee, Andy McKisson, Sheldon Haudenschild, Rod George, Brandon Matus, Arnie Kent, Marty Perovich, Adam Kekich, Jimmy Light, Tim Kelly, Brent Matus, Brandon Spithaler, Chris Best, Dan Kuriger, Steve Collins, Paul McMahan, Jack Sodeman, Jr., Gary Edwards, Carl Bowser, Scott Priester, Craig Folmar.
