Apologies if this has already been covered. Anyone know if that track has ever hosted 410s? There are a couple of late model features from Hesston on Youtube and it looks pretty nice. Probably worth the drive once just for a late model show.

....but I still want to see sprints there more than any other cars.

The 305s used to be there a good bit 6-7 years ago but I can't remember a 410 race there. :dontknow:

I'd like to make it down there for a sprint or SLM show myself. They've never had a 410 race to my knowledge. I don't think they've ever had 360's or 358's either, at least not in recent years.

They ran sprints/super modifieds in the 60's maybe into the 70's. I'll put more info later. I'd really like to see a 410 race there.

I live about 2 mins away & there hasn't been any sprint races there except 305's since it reopened in the 90's. I was there once a long time ago & it reminds me a lot of susky. I would definitely like to see a 410 show there but I wouldn't hold my breath. Most people in my area don't like sprint cars.

My first race ever was a 305 show there with other things (can't remember all the divisions) about 5 years ago. I swore I'd never go back, I've attended many races since then at other tracks, even in other states, and have "caught the bug" so I decided sometime in the near future I'd give Hesston another try. Figured they deserved another chance.

They just cancelled the two 305 shows up there this year.

since 2010 the track has made some very nice improvements though, I never had the chance to, but I would love to watch a race from the backstretch hill there.

The back stretch hill is a great idea and a lot of fun from there most spots are reserved so its hard to get one but it's neat to do. Erikison(sp) has done a lot of improvemnets.

Not exactly true.........They ran the PA 4 cylinder sprints regularily for several years until the 4 cylinder class morphed into the PA 305 Sprints. My brother Dan has several wiins up there running an Esslinger Ford in a full sized sprint. We even won a 4 cylinder 305 challenge race then they outlawed the 4 cylinders...........The next year was the official first year for the PA 305 sprint class which called Heston their home track for the first couple of years.

URC had a race booked there in either 2005 or 2006, but I believe the speedway cancelled it, like a month before the race.

Do you remember the 4 cyclinder late model class they ran up there for a brief period? That was a great class. I thought they were really neat cars and they put on a great show up there.

Do they run ahywhere still or did that class die off? :dontknow:

We went there once around 2000ish....Judi Bates tore 'em up in the 305's. They had a limited Late Model division, I assume 358's. They also had a 4 cylinder stock division.

There was no guard rail then in the turns(at least 1 and 2). Vince Synder went off turn 1 wide open and came flying back over the bank in turn 2 like the Dukes of Hazzard and didn't lose a spot. It is a neat place for sure up in the mountains. The back stretch "Hill" parking area for viewing was cool.

WTF of the visit...It was about 120 degrees the night we were there and 2 of the local 4 cylinder jockeys were marching around the spectator area in full racing garb as if they were the Andretti's....they finished last in their heat....gone for the night....and we ran out of liquid refreshments by the first heat due to miscalcutions by Q-man.

I said the night we were there that it would be good place to watch the 410's at with the size and layout of the track. I thought it was sort of paper clippish like the Grove, but only maybe 4/10's of a mile...? It seemed bigger than our local small tracks...

Book 'em!

Cruising....
