RIP Harry Fletcher

Post by jonboat15 » Wed Sep 16, 2015 6:07 pm

Just seen a twitter post from Shark racing that Harry passed away. I used to buy methanol from Harry and he was one of the most pleasant persons I've ever met. It sure was nice to hear his interview during Rahmer's ledgend race. RIP Harry.

Words can't describe on how much he was a true gentleman. By far, he was one of the most kind and friendly person I've ever met.

I remember meeting Harry for the first time in 1986 at Hagerstown Speedway, back when they ran Sprints on Fridays. My Dad had just became his new engine builder. Harry said " Hi, Brett. How are you? Would you like a Mountain Dew?" Of course I responded yes. He went to the cooler, grabbed me can of Mountain Dew, and handed me a new t-shirt.

Dad and Harry really became good friends, and spoke often on the phone away from the track. I know they valued each others friendship, as I did too.

I'm so glad I got to see him recently. His death leaves a huge void not only to his family and friends, but to the sport of auto racing.

R.I.P. Harry. Very sad news, I always enjoyed watching Harry's racecars, they were always good looking AND good runners, no matter who was driving. I remember Dizzy Dean getting his only win at Lincoln Speedway in one of Harry's cars.
