I want to pass on word that former Silver Spring Speedway announcer Jack Frazier passed away today. What time is it race fans?

Jack and my dad were friends whe worked together for 25 yrs. Every time we walked into the Springs he would welcome us.
Good man and a good announcer that was part of the show.
Rest in peace my friend.

RIP Jack.....It's feature time!!!!!!

He was by far my favorite announcer of all time!

He knew the race game and could really work the crowd. He was really connected with the drivers too....GREAT announcer......Funny yet brutally honest at times!

I would have loved to have seen a kid walk down the front of the grandstands with his pants hanging off his butt with Jack at the mic.... :buttkick:

Jack was a great guy. With his being a car owner for Hoppy Fissel, Jack knew the sport inside and out. He stayed on top of what was going on in the pits. And no one could work a crowd like Jack. There were nights Alan would just roll his eyes. Meanwhile Jack would be standing there with a sly grin on his face. Anybody remember the night Jack said "Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there." Jack looked down the pressbox with this huge grin and we all knew exactly what he meant.

My favorite Jack story is the night of the front stretch streaker. Jack was busy on the mic reading through all the information he had, not looking down at the track. Meanwhile the big crowd forming along the front stretch was an omen something big was about to happen. Suddenly here came the naked young lady running down the front chute. Meanwhile Jack was still reading some announcements. Suddenly Jack looked up and for the first time in his announcing career he was speechless. The mic just went totally quiet. And as the young lady made her hasty exit off turn four, Jack just stood there not knowing what to say. It was a priceless moment!!!

As soon as I have the viewing and service information I will pass them on. Rest in peace Jack!

I think one of my favorite Jack Frazier stories is the year Keith Prutzman signed in under a different hometown each night just to see if Jack would catch on. If Jack did catch on, he never let anyone know and announced each different hometown each week.
