I saw on Maryland Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame website that former Nascar Champion REDS KAGLE has passed away. REDS was a former driver , car owner, innovator of chassis design and setups. I got to talk to him several times. A true gentleman , and friend of stock car racing ....REST IN PEACE

RIP!

Did he race in the 50's around central Pa. with the flatheads? I recall an old movie of him and Mackison in the 65 dicing it out at Hilly's???

Did he lose his leg(s) from a NASCAR crash?

I may have him mixed up here.....

RIP Reds. I watched Reds race at Hershey Stadium back in the late sixties. He would come up with a lot of regulars that also ran Beltsville and Dorsey.

was'nt sure of the year as mentioned above Reds was destinted for big things he had a holman-moody factory ride at charolotte when he was injured -I think his replacement was young man named cale yarbourgh. He returned to maryland Va. scene and won many late model sportsman races at manasses and beltsville,md. speedway
Reds was crew chief of plessingers busch series cars driven by geoff bodine and others. He was also hired by bobby Allison to mentor clifford
He was Multi-time maryland nascar champ

R.I.P #1 you held your place among the greatest

It was May 28, 1961 at Charlotte. The right front blew and when he crashed, the guardrail broke coming up through the car. He was driving the Ratus Walters Ford #2. Walters would win at Darlington the next year with Larry Frank.
During his time away from racing he created those two fabulous Modified heavies, the maroon #8 Chevy coach and the blue #8 Chevy coupe for Johnny Roberts.
