I had a blast with my dad and being a pert of a record turnout of vintage cars. Here are a few I shot before we ran.

It was great to be a part of all of this. I really enjoy going with my dad to these shows with his old car. Hearing the stories these guys tell is amazing. By the way the orange #72 is my dads car and that is him with Leroy. Thanks for looking everyone.

The 49 is a real beauty. I always liked the class look of gold leaf lettering. Lots of nicely restored cars there.

Speaking of the 49 does anyone know is that a restoration of a correct car? By that I mean did that car actually exist, i always thought those well written stories in "Sprint and Midget" magazine were fictional characters. Here is the Ellison Spl. with Jack Harvey wrenching and Sonny Ellison the owner? Anyone know the real scoop? :dontknow:

Hi Terry,

The car was built up from a spare frame that was from 1964. The frame never ended up being needed. So it was NOS New Old Stock. So the build was the way they wanted to do it. The Ellison Spl name was taken from the articles you mentioned.

It has the look, all the right stuff, but no actual racing history. The sister car however,it does indeed have a long USAC sprint car history. Here Roy Caruthers puts the car to the test.

Of course, the 49 has some history now,as Van May took it out for a little ride at Latimore Sat.

Oh yeah,I got to Tell Mr Felty that he is one of my heroes Sat. :thumbleft:

Thats some cool stuff. Looks like the guy in the 23 car is standing on the gas a bit! I'm much too young to remember anything before about 1990 but seeing those old cars makes me appreciate those who built this sport to what it is today. Each one of those cars is a true work of art and I thank everyone who put in the hours to restore these cars and keep our sports history alive.

Thanks Tony, I read every one of those stories. Arg is one of the best writers around, kind of floored me when i thought it might actually be a real team from the past. Although i am sure a lot of the stories are very close to past situations. Thanks again for the info Tony, beautiful car. :thumbleft: and great photo's as always
