Anyone know where this car (or parts of it) might be found or who it was purchased by when it left the Weikert stables or if it even exsists anymore? Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

I've wondered that about all the cars and parts that were in the garage behind the "race barn" many times. That chassis or one just like it with its bodywork was stacked upon other very successful and famous cars in that garage. With two exceptions, Bob retired a chassis after 30 shows but kept the "good ones" as he did not want to ever have to race against them. Those two exceptions were the Buckley cars we fielded for Kenny Jacobs at the start of the 1989 season. Kenny loved those cars and even when they were up for retirement, he got Bob to keep them around as he felt most comfortable in them. When one of them was destroyed in a crash in 1990, Kenny bought the other one and took it home to his farm in Holmesville.

The attic of that garage was filled with tires and wheels from that era, many of them new or nearly so, engine parts including crankshafts, camshafts and other internal parts, blocks, heads and injection systems and miscellaneous steering boxes, rear ends, and on and on. When I re-restored "Old Blue," I rummaged through that attic and could not get over the historic value of what was up there.

Several years ago, my wife and I were out for a motorcyle ride through Adams County and drove past the old shop. I looked through the dirty windows and could only see a tire and one half of a set of small-black headers. In the late 1980s, I tried on two occasions to talk Bob into allowing me to restore one of the Kauffman or Wolfgang big-block cars as I'm sure almost every period part I would need would be upstairs. But he didn't think it would be worth the effort - for as outgoing as Bob was, he actually was a little humble.

That Weikert/Kauffman/Cook big block car is my favorite sprint car of all time.

Great pics!!! Bring back a lot of memories of when I started attending races at Port Royal. Kauffman drove this car and Crowbar Henry's Ford late model. First race I saw Keith won the sprint feature by 1/2 a track and was 4th or 5th in Crowbar's car. I think Jeff Robinson won the late model feature in his yellow #3.
