Pete purchased this car from Regester Chevrolet at the end of the 1967 season. It was driven by Mitch Smith in 1967. The picture would have been late in 1968 or 1969. The car had a shorter rear tail section when he purchased it. Pete added the longer tail later in the year. I don't remember this large wing. This is the car he crashed on the backstretch at Port Royal and landed upside down on top of the fence and the roll cage was pushed way down right in front of his face. The car was repaired over the winter and raced the next season.

That photo was 1969. For 1970 we rebuilt the car over the winter and put a sprint car nose on it. This was the last super modified to beat the sprint cars when Dad won at Clearfiled in 1970. The accident that was discussed in the above post was late in the 69 season and left Dad blind for over a day. I got home from Viet Nam about 6 weeks after the accident and Dad still had a little bit of red eye remaining. Thanks for posting the picture.
All you have to do is beat them to the wall.
