Good pics....The red numbers on the 88 of 1965 only lasted about 1 week.

Was '64 the last year Neil Haight drove for Grimm? and then Tilley teamed up with Grimm in '65? Did Neil Haight retire, quit, or was fired from the 88. Anyone know how many years Haight drove for Bud and how many wins/championships? Did Neal drive after '65?

Here is what I remember about Neil's career. He started out driving Hobby cars at Westport Stadium in Baltimore about 1956. In 1957 he won the Hobby class championship there in a #30 Mopar coupe. In 1958 he switched over to Sportsman-Modified in a #30 white coach put together by Buck Guilfoy and the Liebno Brothers. He won the feature opening night in 1959 at Westport in a white #30 wrenched by Bud Grimm. The team of Bud Grimm and the Liebno Brothers came out with the blue #88 coupe in 1960 and won 2 features at Dorsey. They switched from Westport to start racing at Lincoln.
Neil then raced Bud Grimm's bugs until the end of 1964. The crash at Langhorne in Moe Harden's #00 in October I think changed the plans for 1965. I can not remember what car he drove in 1965, but he was 9th in points at Lincoln. It could have been the car owned by Warren Grimm, Bud's cousin. I definately know he drove Warren's #98 in 1966 as he appears in Stars & Cars and I have photos at Dorsey.
I do not think he raced after that, but could be wrong. I can not document any championships except for the one at Westport in 1957.

I think Neil was in the Gastrock 12 maybe in 1965...Willie Musselman was in the 12 in 1966???

You definitely have 1961-66 right from what I recall. Did Diz Dean drive the 98 during 1966 any? I remember Neil starting the year in it.

Frankie Thompson was in the Gastrock 12 in 1964. He and Milford in the 1e put on one of the best races I ever saw at Susky that year. I do think Neil may have driven it some in 65. Same as Hersh, Neil would sneak in for some wins, but Mackison gobbled most of them up in 61 and 62. Drivers that would have won a lot more races had the Emerich car not been around.

Neil in Gastrock's Buick, I think 1080 is correct. And yes Neil and Diz did split the 1966 season in Warren's #98.
There is a confusing photo on page 7 of the 1967 Edition of Star & Cars covering the 1966 season. It shows Neil and the #98 at Williams Grove with the checkered flag and trophy as if he won a feature. But the stats do not show a win, his highest finish being a third.

Here is a photo of Neil Haight in the Gastrock No. 12. The photo was in a file with 1965 photographs.
