Hey Guys - -
I haven't posted in quite some time but the Baby Bonnie twist to this thread caught my attention. The Baby Bonnie was a Lorenz Alwine innovation that did quite well at Langhorne and Port Royal. I'm not sure that I know much about this Baby Bonney car. I have a pic of a #2 coupe powered by a Pontiac and driven by Sherwood Hackenberg. It is a Lloyd King pic and I have no idea where it was taken - - however - - I dug out a 1965 Stars and Cars and there it is - - S. Hackenberg at Selinsgrove. So are there two sets of cars called the Baby Bonney (Bonnie)?? And if so, can somebody shed some light on this? Sorry for the rambling here but I truly am confused by this. I thought that the Baby Bonnie was the Alwine car that set fast time at Langhorne in 1961 (finished 34th) and finished 5th in 1962. Pretty good showings for the only two years that the bugs were allowed to run there. I appreciate any clarification.

The Baby Bonnie you speak of is the only one I remember, but I was by no meens a Selinsgrove regular around that time. I remember it from Langhorne. 1080 facts are usually correct.. :thumbright:

Also if original plans for the 5 exsist I would be very interested in seeing them... :thumbright:

I recall 2 Baby Bonny's....the one Lorenz drove (also Gerhart and Brymesser) and this second one. The second one almost looked like the 1962 Folkenroth 100 that didn't have a coupe body on it. We didn't miss a race at the Groves in 1965 and I only remember it a few times at Selinsgrove with Gerhart I believe driving it. It looked like a BIG bug and was very boxey. The Hackenberg 2 is a different car from what I remember.

That first Baby Bonny was a fast car and neat to see flying around the track.

Eldora - 12.7 seconds = 180' per second = 122.7 MPH
Selinsgrove - 15.8 seconds = 176.9' per second = 120.6 MPH
Williams Grove - 16.1 seconds = 173' per second = 117 MPH
Lincoln - 12.7 seconds = 145.2' per second = 99 MPH

2014 Attendance Log:

Port - 14
Grove - 0 drove there and changed my mind
Others - 0

I'm pretty sure it was '67. If memory serves me correct, this was the last carburator to win a "sprint car" feature at the Grove.

That is one awesome model!

The real car was a fast one and was beating fuel injected cars.

There is a photo of this 5 car with fuel injection in a crash with the 77 of i think Brymesser, might be early 68, any idea who would be in the 5 at that time?

Lynn Paxton also had seat time in the car. I think it was just one show at the big race. I remember Lynn talking about driving the car.

I don't remember the 5 in 1968. Gerhart was concentrating on Modifieds. The older 5 went to Lloyd Gerberich and he raced as a sportsman at the Spring and Fredericksburg.

The 5 I remember in 1968 was Paul Long. He had that real bad crash and was on the sidelines for a while.
