There has to be a Jim Kennedy photo.

Recently found in a box at EMMR were a number of Lloyd King negatives. These are photos I have never seen before. The museum is having them developed and I picked them up tonight. there are over 300 photos and many are classics. To give you a taste, this is Ray Tilley cageless in 1966 from a Williams Grove URC show

From the King collection, it is Ed Spencer after a win in 1966. He subbed for an injured Mel Alexander. The question I have - is that Jimmy Spencer leaning against the rear of the car? I think it is. It is one of Ed's boys.

Here is a challenge - name all the group up front in this photo. It is Williams Grove from 1966. 1080 - give 'em a head start because I know you can name them all in about three seconds.

Yep....pretty easy for a 60's kid!

However the second from the right is hard to tell with his head turned. This has to be around 1966 with the one guy having a cast on his leg. I remember him around that time with the cast. The guy to his left may have been his arch rival?

This "event" baffles me however since I am fairly certain I did not miss a race at the Grove in 1966. I remember the one Wednesday night they had Mackison run a few exhibition laps in the Tiger car and Bobby was there also. The curve ball is Toby in the pick.

I do not think Bob was around the track after 1967 and I am surprised Gunn doesn't have the microphone.

I will say that is a pile of talent standing there....and it is definitely 1967 or earlier due to the judges stand still having the wood fence in front of it. The pit was altered for 1968 and the exit was moved and the judges stand had steel guard rail in front of it.......pretty sure.

Bob Richwine (Grove Owner)-Ray Tilley-Gene Goodling-Toby Tobias-Johnny Mackison-Bobby Hersh....1961-66 Champs and Hersh who was always in the front.

Event-?

Williams Grove 1966 or 1967. Hersh had a cast in the summer of 1966....unknown in 1967.

1080 has it right. Lynn Paxton told me Richwine was honoring track champions.

As for the night, it was the 1966 Wednesday night 50 lapper that Jack Deniston pulled the surprise win with the $ car.

OK....that was the night Johnny ran the new Tiger Car for some exhibition laps. They ran several Wednesday night races I recall. Chamberlain may have flipped the 31 that night too in turn 4.
