A sad today as we lost Henry Jacoby. He was the 1965 winner of The Open. His cars were known as the Little Jewel.

One of western PA's finest drivers and a class individual. RIP Henry. He was also the Sharon track champion in 1963.

He led the invasion of drivers from the western part of the state. Here is a photo of Jacoby with the jewel in 1968

I purchased this car from Henry upon my return from Viet Nam is November 1969 and won Rookie Of The Year in it at Port Royal in 1970. I ran the car for four years before selling it to the late John Zentner. The car bounced around for a few years and now resides in Reading PA where it has been restored by the Fiddler family.

Henry was a great guy and very personable. The first time I raced against him after I purchased his car was at the Labor Day race at Port Royal. I finished ahead of Henry. After the race he came down and said that I now owe him more money. Two years ago by coincidence I parked next to Henry's son Jason at the Outlaw race at Lernerville. We began chatting and soon discovered the others identity. Jason also is a great guy.

Rest in Peace Henry! So sad that another star from this era is gone.
