Anyone know where I could get a copy of the Bergren/Opperman article from 1986 Open Wheel Mag?

On the topic of Opperman; in the book "Dialed In" Jan says the only time he punched another man in his racing career happened at Williams Grove when he was crashed by a guy that liked to use the outside car as a cushion. Anyone know who the other driver was?

That is a real good book. I "think" he is speaking of K. Weld? I certaintly wouldn't know as that was much before my time...The book talks much of the Weld rivalry...

Wish I could have seen these guy race...

Tim - I can find the article under your facebook. Thanks for your efforts!!

Just shows how mad he was cause Pitzer would be one of my last picks to punch. He already looked like a pro boxer with that nose.. :laughing7:

Thanks Buildy. I didn't think it was Weld. I know the 2 had a heated rivalry but I think they had a mutual respect for one another too. I used to root for Pitzer in the 29 when I was a kid.

Mr. Port, you are rite it was one of the midweek 100 lappers that Lincoln ran I think it was sponsored by the Tall Cedars
my brother was helping on the 99 it was close to the half way fuel stop when Paul cut Jan off and made contact
which gave Jan a flat tire and he was in a battle with Kenny for the lead and Paul was already a laps down my
brother said they knew Jan was mad when he got out of the car with his helmet and face shield still on, walked
over to Paul's car and layed him out with one punch and one of Jan's crew said that made him 10 and 0 in fights
Paxton said it didn't last long enough for him to get on the trailer for a better view :cheerleader: :jiggy:

Thanks for the info SK11, I was in the stands but I heard by word of mouth that Jan laid Pitzer out. I was a big Jan fan back in the day.
