Andy Brown

Post by g2aacc » Sun Jan 27, 2013 2:42 pm

Do any of you History buffs have any pics of Andy Brown. He was the last NHL Goalie to play net without a Mask. Memory is telling me he raced Sprint Cars in Central Pa early 70's after Hockey was over for the season. He once played for the Pens.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It is possible he did both, not sure. Here he is in an ex-Indy roadster Super Mod. On my traditional racing page on facebook.

I know Andy Brown ran a sprint car with the URC so it's entirely possible he raced at the Grove. He won a URC show at 5 Mile Point Speedway in 1969 (5/30/69). I just might have a pic somewhere. I'll dig around.

Andy Brown played for the Baltimore Clippers in the late 60's, early 70's. The Sun newspaper did an article and it said he drove both sprint cars and supermodifieds. In the 1970 Oswego Classic he finished third. The article said his supermodified was a former Mario Andretti roadster.
