Grippers Sprint Bandits

Post by Ricupero » Wed Feb 13, 2013 12:00 pm

Let me start by saying i'm probably in the wrong category, so if it needs moved i apologize, i didn't know which this would go in but am positive someone will be able to help me.

as a kid i went to the grove and in the infield would buy these 16.00 wind up grippers sprint cars from barry skelly novelties.

i have about 16 or 17 from the 1999 season of local cars.

they stopped making them so they only sell larger sprint cars to hand paint. i took my wife by his stand at the york expo center for the dirt trackin show and told him that i still have the cars and saw he had some old ones to sell. it brought back alot of memories and made him happy to hear this.

my question is does any one know where i can purchase these cars anymore so i could see if he could get some more painted for me.

also as a kid i remember owning two other wind up sprinters of jim nace and i believe johnny mackison. i can't seem to find them anymore but these were slightly different then the gripper sprint bandits but same size.

anyone have any insight on this.

thanks in advance.

there was also Rick Hench, Glenn Fitzcharles, and my favorite Billy Crawford. They are under the "Road Champs" brand.

i know they were made in china and that there was some mistakes on the spelling of some of the things on the cars.
The Rick Hench car said "Menchcraft Racing Products" and Billy Crawford's car had "W. Haxelton, PA" as the location for Harry's U-Pull it.

I still have one. It was of Cris Eash, but I painted it like my car.

YESSS!

That is exactly what I was talking about. Now that I know the name I will try and do some research on them.

I am almost positive there was a Mackison car. I'd like to get one , I have an interest in what his car use to look like when it was made since I just finished doing the vinyl work for both the Mackison boys this year.

But thank you I will try and see what I can find on tracking these cars down.
